Also remember to find out what any quotation you receive from a solicitor includes. Does it include checking the mortgage offer or filling in the land tax return? You sometimes find that the "cheapest quote" has added extras over and above the headline figure that you thought you were paying, which can mean that the final bill is more than you expect.
When you ask for a quotation, get it in writing. We email all our conveyancing quotes to our clients and prospective clients so you can see from day one what the final bill will be.
Who will be dealing with your house purchase or sale? Is it a solicitor? Just because you are contacting a solicitors firm does not mean you have a solicitor looking after your house purchase.
